Divorce
In divorce cases, we attempt to resolve issues for our clients with their best interests in mind. We strive to come to a resolution expediently and fairly while protecting the interests of my clients. In divorce cases where children are involved, we believe it is particularly important to resolve matters while trying to avoid unnecessary antagonism between the parties. We seek to protect the rights and legal interests of our clients while they begin a new period in their lives.
Juvenile legal matters
If you are facing a juvenile matter, we have experience with the “quasi-criminal” juvenile court. We can work with parents and children with juvenile delinquency issues and related juvenile criminal law matters.
Interstate custody issues
We have a number of cases that address interstate custody issues. Under the Uniform Child Custody and Jurisdiction (UCCJA), a parent must have the permission of the court to move with a child under certain orders. We can represent you if you are seeking to relocate with a child or stop the relocation of your child.
Paternity
If are involved in a dispute over paternity, it is critical that you take a paternity test to establish paternity as soon as possible. Once paternity is established, you may face a lifetime of support. Fortunately, DNA tests make it possible to disestablish paternity early on. We have also helped a number of fathers make sure they have parenting time and that support is properly calculated
Change of custody and parenting time
We have helped a number of parents with "change of custody" cases where parenting time needs adjustment after an order has been established. If your current custody order is not accomplishing your needs and you wish to make a modification to the order, we may be able to assist you. Often, custody established during a divorce or paternity action needs to be changed. We are experienced in revisiting orders and modification of custody cases.
At Rock and Vernier, we are experienced in handling a range of family legal matters. Whether you are facing a divorce or are seeking representation to assist you with a modification or interstate custody issue, we will work hard to accomplish your goals.
